J.Z. Knight

What Will the Enlightened Man of the Future Look Like?

In preparation for our upcoming WIE men's issue, we asked a variety of prominent female spiritual teachers and cultural observers the question, "What will the enlightened man of tomorrow look like?" We received many interesting and provocative answers to our question, but one of our favorite responses came from none other than J.Z. Knight, spiritual teacher and star of What the Bleep Do We Know!? While Knight may be best known for channeling the 35,000-year-old Lemurian warrior Ramtha, her insights into the evolution of gender roles since WWII and the future of what it means to be a man were both surprising and sophisticated.

In her conversation with WIE's Elizabeth Debold, Knight brings a broad perspective on human development gleaned from nearly thirty years as a spiritual teacher to both the challenges and the extraordinary spiritual possibilities for men in the twenty-first century. She describes how liberated men will be those who can tap into their uniquely male capacity to move forward into “undetermined futures” and transform their spiritual visions into concrete realities. And she discusses the obstacles that men, particularly those from Gen Y, will face as we move beyond the postmodern age.

(Last but not least, we couldn't help but ask Knight what it’s been like—as a woman—to be the channel for a powerful male entity over the past thirty years!)
