Salman Ahmad, lead guitarist and founding member of Junoon,
South Asia's most popular rock band, is often referred to as the
Bono of Asia. He's an official UN goodwill ambassador, AIDS
awareness activist, vocal proponent of nuclear disarmament, and
a tireless promoter of the moderate—and distinctly
modern—attitudes of Muslims around the world. And when
he's not touring with the band or pounding the lecture circuit,
he makes documentary films. In this exclusive Unbound
presentation, Salman engages with an articulate Boston audience
following the US premier of his film about Muslims in America,
It's My Country Too. Bighearted and broad-minded, the
deeply humanitarian Salman Ahmad fields questions about the
social consequences of 9/11, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism,
and the future of Islam in the modern world. We've also included
some not-to-be-missed footage of Salman performing his acoustic
rendition of a traditional Pakistani love song.
