In the summer of 2004, WIE sent its staff to Barcelona, Spain, to cover the Parliament of the World's Religions. First held in 1893, this periodic gathering draws thousands of religious leaders, teachers, activists, and theologians from every corner of the globe to participate in its dialogues, seminars, panel discussions, and presentations.
During WIE's visit, the editors and Andrew Cohen hosted "salons," intimate gatherings held at a Barcelona apartment, where the collective conversation,
reflection, and inquiry could delve more deeply into the issues at hand.
On occasion the conversation turned autobiographical, as participants
spoke about their own search for, and discovery of, a greater truth in
life.
WIE Unbound is pleased to present the second in our series of portraits from the Parliament, featuring this beautiful autobiographical account by Audrey Kitagawa. Kitagawa, an advisor to the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General for Children and Armed Conflict, is heir to the spiritual legacy of her mentor and guru, Divine Mother. Rooted in the universal spiritual vision of the great Indian mystic and sage Sri Ramakrishna, Audrey Kitagawa conveys a rare spirit and dedication to the spiritual upliftment of the human race.
