Ariel Levy is a contributing editor at New York magazine and author of the book Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture, whichhas been translated into Dutch, French, and Italian. Her writing has also appeared in The Washington Post, Vogue, Slate, Men's Journal, and Blender.

Raised in Larchmont, New York, she attended Wesleyan University in the 1990s. Her experiences at Wesleyan strongly influenced her views regarding modern sexuality. After leaving Wesleyan, she was employed very briefly by Planned Parenthood and was hired by New York magazine shortly thereafter.

Levy speaks frequently at colleges and universities and has been a guest on The Colbert Report , Oprah, and NPR's Fresh Air. She has contributed to two forthcoming books, The Best American Crime Reporting of 2007 and Thirty Ways of Looking at Hillary: Reflections by Women Writers.
