In this, our second quarterly edition of What Is Enlightenment? we've taken on what we feel is one of the most exciting emerging potentials of our time: collective intelligence. Is it possible that simply through coming together with others in a spirit of focused intention and attention we can not only find, but actually create, the door to the future? It definitely seems that something extraordinary has begun to happen in many different fields of human endeavor—something that may even enable us to find otherwise unseen solutions to the incredibly complex problems that our rapidly changing world is facing. And if indeed this is true, what could be more important?

The most rewarding part of working on this magazine is engaging so intimately with others in the creative process. Since WIE has taken on its new incarnation, we've also taken on three young editors who have helped to dramatically alter and influence our voice, especially when addressing issues related to popular culture. One sure sign of the aging process is the dawning recognition that one is shockingly out of touch with new tastes, perspectives, and trends that are the sights and sounds of a new generation. Embracing this new generation, while gently aspiring to educate, inspire, and uplift them through our pages, is now part of our ongoing mission. In trying to provide a serious forum for cutting-edge thinking, the experience of that creative process is deepened exponentially with the conviction that through coming together, not only as a dedicated team but also with our contributors and readers, we are helping in our own small way to create a more enlightened future for us all.
